Postdoctoral Scholar Salary Scales

Pursuant to the Postdoctoral Scholars’ Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of California and the UAW union, Article 4, Compensation, the salary scales for Postdoctoral Scholar salary/stipend minimum rates have been adjusted in accordance with the newly revised fiscal year 2022 National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award stipend levels.

 *Appointment to Postdoctoral Scholar, Experience Level 5, is by exception.
  1. For current Postdoctoral Scholars with multi-year appointments whose anticipated anniversary dates are beyond 4/17/2022 and are already entered in UC Path, please update their salary rates accordingly.
  2. The 5/1/2022 (for monthly) and 4/17/2022 (for non-exempt) new minimums apply to Postdoctoral Scholars who are newly hired, reappointed, or whose anniversary date falls on or after April 17, 2022.
  3. Current Postdoctoral Scholars with anniversary date before April 17, 2022 will continue to be subject to the February 1, 2021 minimum rates until their subsequent reappointment or anniversary date.
  4. Postdoctoral Scholars who earn a salary/stipend amount that is below $684 per week ($35,568 per year) are classified as non-exempt. Postdoctoral Scholars in non-exempt titles newly hired, reappointed, or with anniversary dates on or after April 17, 2022, should be subject to new salary scale.
