In accordance with the current contractual agreement between the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Workers of America (UAW) and the University of California, the salary rates for the Academic Student Employees (BX) and Graduate Student Researchers (BR) will be adjusted by a general range adjustment effective April 1, 2023.
For existing appointments:
Appointments with end dates beyond April 1, 2023, UCPath will process the wage implementation changes and no action is needed.
For new Spring 2023 appointments:
The new scales reflecting the new rates are already in UCPath. Transactors will need to update the Salary Grade on the position to access the new rates for Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs).

If you have already entered new Spring 2023 appointments with old increments and rates, UCPath will process the necessary changes and no action is needed.
ACADEMIC STUDENT EMPLOYEES (ASEs)
Monthly salary scales have been increased by approximately 7.5% and hourly salary scales have been increased by $1.50 per hour.

The four lowest salary increments have been combined, and the top salary increment has been removed. Salary scales have been increased by approximately 7.5% with a 7.75% increase between increments.
