PPS Freeze: Unit 18 Range Adjustment

In accordance with the contractual agreement between the University Council – American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT) and the University of California, salary rates for Unit 18 Non-Senate Faculty (NSF) titles are subject to a general range adjustment increase of 2.5 percent effective July 1, 2018. The current salary in PPS will be used to apply the respective salary increase.

Friday, June 29, 2018LAST DAY TO UPDATE
This is the last day you will be allowed to make any changes in PPS for Unit 18 NSF titles.
Monday, July 2, 2018 —
Friday, July 6, 2018
Do not update/change/delete appointments in PPS for Unit 18 NSF titles during this time. Unit 18 appointments that have been entered into PPS will be updated at this time. Appointments entered after the PPS freeze will need to be manually adjusted by the department.
Saturday, July 7, 2018ADJUSTMENT COMPLETE
Units may again begin to update personnel actions for Unit 18 NSF titles in PPS. A PPS Listserv notice will be forwarded as soon as the salary adjustment process is complete.

Salary Scales

The new salary scales are available on the AP Website. Please do not enter the new July 1, 2018 rates into PPS until after the adjustment has been completed.

IMPORTANT CHANGES: In 2017, UC Office of the President removed many of the rates from the Unit 18 salary scale.

  • Initial appointments: must fall on a scale rate as define on page 24 of the salary scale.
  • Salary increases: should be calculated in accordance to the contract (e.g. 6 percent for 10th quarter/7th semester, Article 7A.F.3).
    • Unit 18 NSF salaries will no longer be required to fall on the salary scale rates after their initial appointment.
    • Salaries should still fall within the salary ranges as indicated on the salary scales.

After the Adjustment: Review

Payroll no longer automatically prints/distributes reports of the changes resulting from the range adjustment process. Please remember that it is critical that you review and verify the accuracy of the changes as soon as possible.  With so many payroll changes occurring, it is important that any errors be corrected before salary is affected (payroll cut- off: July 27, 2018).
