As a reminder, Professor William Parker serves as Faculty Retirement Liaison, a position that supports an important campus initiative to assist faculty in making continuing contributions to UCI’s research, teaching and service missions post-retirement.
In this role, Professor Parker’s duties include advising and advocating for faculty members who are considering retirement as well as for those who have already retired. He is available to help plan for, structure and negotiate pre- and post-retirement arrangements, and to help retiring faculty understand and navigate the University’s general retirement process and system. This year faculty intending to request a recall appointment after one month following retirement may encounter challenging issues concerning retiree health benefits and may benefit from an early discuss of recall issues.
