Effective immediately, please implement the following processing change for UAW and AFT notices.
If a union contract requires a notice to the employee and the union (e.g. layoff/reduction in time, PX release) the office sending the notice will send it to the employee and Union, and forward to Academic Personnel using the following guidelines:
- As you normally would following necessary approvals, provide written notice to the employee via email to their official uci.edu email (and to alternative emails, if appropriate).
- Cc the union contact for the appropriate bargaining unit – those contacts are listed here.
- Forward what was sent to the employee and union to your AP Analyst (directory here) and Academic Personnel at acadpers@uci.edu for retention in the employment/personnel files.
- If the union replies to your email, pass that communication to your AP Analyst and to acadpers@uci.edu for review/response by AP Labor Relations.
If a union contract requires a notice only to the union (e.g. new or changed IWCs), AP will send the notice. As you normally would, email the notice information to your AP Analyst for support.
