United Auto Workers Local 4811, which represents Academic Student Employees (Teaching Assistants, Readers, and Tutors), Graduate Student Researchers, Academic Researchers, and Postdoctoral Scholars, has called on its members at UC Irvine to strike beginning Wednesday, June 5.

UAW-represented employees have received notices reminding them of their obligation to complete their leave/absence reporting accurately and in a timely manner. Specifically, employees are required to report absences/leaves taken on a monthly basis in the UCI Time Reporting System (TRS). If no absences/leaves were taken, employees will be required to log in to certify that they have not been absent from work for that pay period.  

Supervisors are responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of the absences/leaves reported by all employees before approving them. In accordance with relevant personnel policies and CBAs, and consistent with normal operations, all employees will be required to seek prior approval for leaves of absence.

There are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to assist you in navigating TRS and in answering questions, specifically regarding how GSRs, TAs, AIs are to report absences/leave in the system. The FAQs also contain information about GSR Personal Time Off (PTO) use requests and reporting. Monthly absence/leave reporting requirements continue to apply to Postdoctoral Scholars and Academic Researchers as well.
