2022 Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL)
Effective February 19, 2022 through September 30, 2022, the University of California is providing up to 80 hours of 2022 Emergency Paid Sick Leave (2022 EPSL) for full-time employees and the two-week equivalent for part-time employees (staff and academic employees, including represented, student, and healthcare employees).
The 2022 EPSL provides the following:
- If an employee took any leave between January 1, 2022 and February 18, 2022 for one or more of the qualifying EPSL reasons, the employee may request that the University allow them to retroactively use 2022 EPSL retroactively to January 1, 2022; and
- Employees hired on or before September 30, 2021 who did not exhaust their 2021 EPSL entitlement are also eligible to use any remaining 2021 EPSL entitlement during the 2022 EPSL period until September 30, 2022 if one or more of the six qualifying reasons apply.
For more information, please read the UC Announcement or visit https://ap.uci.edu/covid19/.
To request for 2022 EPSL, employees must complete the Leave of Absence form (UCI-AP-76) and the 2022 Emergency Paid Sick Leave Notice and Request Form (pages 4-5) and route via department chair, dean and to the Office of Academic Personnel.
