Changes associated with recent revision of APM – 285
All new appointments for Professors of Teaching (LSOE) beginning on or after October 1, 2018 are subject to the revised APM – 285 policy.
The following changes below are to assist you with your appointment preparation under the new regulations:
- Time as a Unit 18 Lecturer: Time as a Unit 18 Lecturer no longer counts toward the 8 year clock for Assistant Professors of Teaching. Schools may include prior teaching experience, such as Unit 18 Lecturer, or research experience, to determine the appropriate rank and step.
- Rank and Step: All new appointments in the Professors of Teaching series, effective July 1, 2019, should be proposed with a rank and step. Refer to the Redelegation of Authority – Senate Faculty Appointments for further appointment authority.
If you have further questions, please consult with your assigned Academic Personnel analyst.
Sincerely,
Diane K. O’Dowd
Vice Provost of Academic Personnel[/su_note]
