As part of the current Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), each UC campus has provided a Professional Development Fund for Non-Senate Instructional Faculty covered by the agreement. For the 2018-2019 year, at the Irvine Campus, all Non-Senate Instructional Unit (Unit 18) appointees with a current appointment during the 2018-2019 academic year are eligible to apply. The amount of the Tier 1 Award is up to $2,000.In addition, Tier 2 Award category will continue to be in effect this year for continuing appointees
I also wish to call your attention to the following important details:

Funding for this program is limited and the anticipated demand will no doubt exceed our ability to fund all proposals. There is a total of $30,610.54, which includes the unused 2017-2018 funds of $4.54.Therefore, you are encouraged to provide realistic rankings of requests.
Funding awarded in the application year (2018-2019) to the selected applicants must be used by the 2019-2020 Academic Year.

Your signature and that of the chair on the project summary sheet should accompany the proposal. This helps to ensure that you have seen all proposals and have had a chance to rank them according to the criteria. Deans and chairs are encouraged to add comments and recommendations as appropriate.
Application Deadlines:
