Pursuant to the Postdoctoral Scholars’ Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of California and the UAW union, Article 4, Compensation, the salary scales for Postdoctoral Scholar salary/stipend minimum rates have been adjusted in accordance with the newly revised fiscal year 2021 National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award stipend levels.

- The 2/1/2021 (for monthly) and 2/7/2021 (for non-exempt) new minimums apply to Postdoctoral Scholars who are newly hired, reappointed, or whose anniversary date falls on or after February 1, 2021.
- Current Postdoctoral Scholars with anniversary date before February 1, 2021 will continue to be subject to the March 1, 2020 minimum rates until their subsequent reappointment or anniversary date.
- Postdoctoral Scholars who earn a salary/stipend amount that is below $684 per week ($35,568 per year) are classified as non-exempt. Postdoctoral Scholars in non-exempt titles newly hired, reappointed, or with anniversary dates on or after February 7, 2021 should be subject to new salary scale.
- For current Postdoctoral Scholars with multi-year appointments whose anticipated anniversary dates are beyond 2/1/2021 and are already entered in UC Path, please update their salary rates accordingly.
