This message contains important information for all UCI employees. Please read the following message in its entirety. Thank you.

Dear colleagues:

The wellbeing of our employees is a top priority, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the Working Well™ program that has been developed to help keep you and your colleagues well, daily COVID-19 symptom check screenings are now mandatory for all UCI employees, effective Monday, August 24, 2020.

This decision is based on Center for Disease Controls (CDC), State of California, County of Orange, and University of California Office of the President (UCOP) directives, guidelines, and best practices. Details of the officially authorized daily symptom check screenings are available in Chancellor Gillman’s Executive Directive.

DAILY SYMPTOM CHECK FOR CAMPUS (IRVINE) EMPLOYEES

Beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2020, campus employees, including Health Sciences and School of Medicine (SOM) employees located in Irvine, will begin receiving a daily email Monday through Friday asking you to participate in UCI’s Working Well Daily Symptom Check. This screening application has two core functions:

  • To provide guidance and easy access to testing for individuals who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or exposure to COVID-19; and
  • To ensure that all individuals coming to campus on a given day do not have symptoms.

You may respond to the Daily Symptom Check via email, mobile application, or by calling the UCI Coronavirus Response Center at 949.824.9918.

If you work a shift other than Monday through Friday, e.g., weekends, you may change the email schedule yourself through UCI’s Employee Experience Center (EEC). Click here for instructions on how to do this.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD AN EMPLOYEE COMPLETE THE DAILY SYMPTOM CHECK?

All employees are expected to use the daily symptom check every day they are scheduled to work. If you are on approved vacation or leave, and will be gone for an extended period of time, daily check-ins are not necessary. It is your responsibility to ensure that your manager is aware that you will not be participating in daily symptom checks during this time period.

DO TELECOMMUTING EMPLOYEES NEED TO PARTICIPATE?

Yes. Employees who are working remotely (telecommuting) must complete the daily symptom check. If you are not scheduled to be on-site, select the ‘Not Scheduled to Work On-Site’ option.
