NON-SENATE INSTRUCTIONAL UNIT (UNIT 18) APPOINTEES
RE: Professional Development Funds
As part of the current Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), each campus has provided a Professional Development Fund for Non-Senate Instructional Faculty covered by the agreement. For the 2017-2018 year, at the Irvine Campus, all Non-Senate Instructional Unit (Unit 18) appointees with a current appointment during the 2017-2018 academic year are eligible to apply. The amount of the Tier 1 Award is up to $2,000. In addition, Tier 2 Award category will continue to be in effect this year.
Attached is information concerning the types of awards and a copy of the award application form. Instructions about the preparation of the award applications and the process for review are also included. Please note that the funding for this program is limited and the anticipated demand will no doubt exceed our ability to fund all proposals. There is a total of $30,607.54, which includes the unused 2016-2017 funds of $1.54.
