Academic personnel appointed for the first time at UCI in a Unit 18 title must attend a mandatory new employee orientation during their first academic term.
Unit 18 Faculty are represented by a union, the University Council – American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). A union representative will provide a thirty minute presentation at the Unit 18 Faculty new employee orientation. Further information about the UCAFT may be found at: https://ucaft.org/.
