In accordance with guidelines issued by the Office of the President for policy covered non-faculty academics and with the contractual collective bargaining agreements for Academic Researchers, Librarians, and Unit 18 Faculty, the University of California is implementing the 2023-2024 salary program as follows:

  • Non-represented non-faculty academics – 4.6% range adjustment.
  • Represented Academic Researchers – 4.5% range adjustment.
  • Represented Librarians – 3% range adjustment.
  • Represented Unit 18 Faculty – 3% range adjustment.

All salary scale percentage adjustments are approximate as the precise amount may vary due to rounding and modest smoothing to maintain consistent increments between steps. Smoothing of the salary scales may result in an increase of more than the listed percent. The increases will be effective July 1, 2023 for monthly paid employees and July 9, 2023 for biweekly paid employees.

The academic salary program will be implemented for the following titles.

Eligible non-represented academic appointees:

  • Academic Administrator Series
  • Academic Coordinator Series
  • Academic Deans and Other Full-time Faculty Administrators
  • Academic Recalls
  • Assistant and Associate University Librarians
  • Counseling Center Interns and Trainees
  • Librarians
  • Professional Research Series
  • Project Scientist Series
  • Specialist Series
  • Teachers – UNEX (Teachers – UNEX Contract-Year are not eligible)

Eligible represented academic appointees:

  • Librarians
  • Professional Research Series
  • Project Scientist Series
  • Specialist Series
  • Unit 18 Faculty

Salary Scales

The new salary scales are available on the AP Website.

The new rates for the eligible populations are now in UCPath and will be available moving forward for any transactions with a July 1, 2023 (MO)/July 9, 2023 (BW) or greater effective date. Any future dated transactions with old rates already entered in UCPath will be centrally adjusted to the new rates during the freeze period.

UCPath Freeze: The freeze only applies to the populations listed above who will have their salary plans range adjusted. The freeze period is scheduled for June 30, 2023 through July 7, 2023 for monthly and biweekly paid employees.

Faculty Range Adjustment

The Ladder-Rank Faculty and other academic appointees tied to the Ladder-Rank scales will be increased by 4.6% effective October 1, 2023 and will be processed in the fall. There will be no discretionary program this year. More details regarding this range adjustment will be released at a later date.
