Academic Researchers Unit

On or around October 31, 2019, the University and the United Auto Workers have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract for UC’s academic researchers. This contract was ratified by the UAW membership on November 8, 2019. This is a multi-year agreement, effective from November 8, 2019 through September 30, 2022.

Series affected by this ratification are the Specialist series, Project Scientist series, and Researcher series. Click here for current contract information.

Academic Student Employees

UCI Academic Student Employees (ASEs) appointed as Teaching Assistants, Teaching Associates (Associates In), Readers, and Tutors are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Regents of the University of California and the Student Workers Union, International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) AFL-CIO. Librarians

Members of the Librarian Series who are managers and supervisors are not represented and covered by the APM. All other members of the Librarian Series are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Regents of the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).  The agreement between the Regents and the AFT can be found here.

Non-Senate Instructional Unit (Unit 18 Lecturers)

UCI Unit 18 Non-Senate Faculty (NSF) are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Regents of the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). The agreement between the Regents and the UAW can be found here.

Postdoctoral Scholars

UCI Postdoctoral Scholars are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Regents of the University of California and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW).
