PPS Freeze for ASE/GSR Range Adjustment

September 27, 2016 - October 4, 2016

In accordance with the current contractual agreement (Article 29) between the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Workers of America (UAW) and the University of California, the 2016-17 rates for the Academic Student Employees (BX) will be adjusted by an across-the-board increase of 4 percent effective October 1, 2016.  As with previous years, the Graduate Student Researcher rates will also receive a matching increase of 4 percent effective October 1, 2016.

In order to accommodate campus operational needs associated with monthly/bi-weekly payroll processes:

  • Monthly paid ASE (TA’s and Associates) and GSR appointees will have their pay rates adjusted beginning October 1, 2016 which will be reflected on their November 1, 2016 paycheck.
  • Bi-weekly paid ASE (Readers and Tutors) appointees have their pay rates adjusted beginning October 9, 2016 (B2 pay period) which will be reflected on their November 2, 2016 paycheck.

The new salary scales will be available on the AP Website (ap.uci.edu) after Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Please do not enter the new 10/1/2016 rates into PPS until after the adjustment has been completed. 

AFTER THE ADJUSTMENT: REVIEW

Payroll no longer automatically prints/distributes reports of the changes resulting from the range adjustment process.  You still have to these reports via the EDL.  Instructions on accessing these reports can be found at: https://wiki.oit.uci.edu/display/public/Electronic+Document+Libraries+%28EDL%29+Payroll+Reports+Overview.

Please remember that it is critical that you review and verify the accuracy of the changes as soon as possible.  With so many payroll changes occurring, it is important that any errors be corrected before salary is affected (payroll cut-off: 10/26/2016).
