This is to notify you that the University will be implementing procedures on Additional UC Compensation and Academic Enrichment Funds (AEFs) effective November 1, 2019.
“Additional UC Compensation” refers to honoraria, stipends, summer salary, payments for overload teaching in self-supporting programs and otherwise, and other types of University-paid compensation that are in addition to the faculty member’s annual salary and reflect academic activities in addition to the faculty member’s usual job duties. Prior to rendering the service(s) for which the additional UC compensation is paid, the faculty member must submit the UCI-AP-AEF form to choose from the following options. Once an election has been made, it is irrevocable.
- Direct Payment,
- Allocation to an Academic Enrichment Fund, or
- Split additional UC compensation between direct payment and Academic Enrichment Fund
Once additional UC compensation is allocated to an AEF, funds in the AEF cannot ever be used for that faculty member’s salary support (e.g., summer salary, NSTP).
